A room you govern, funded by the room

For organisers of established 18+ membership communities, WLP chat creates a private, self-funded room without exposing every member’s number or reusing one public identity.
WLP chat product brief, September 2026
A group link, or a room
Most groups run on a chat app with one invite link. This is what changes.
| Question | An open group link | A WLP chat room |
|---|---|---|
| Who can join | Anyone who has the link, until an admin resets it | Only through a Passport, with an expiry and a use limit you set |
| How members appear | Often by phone number, to the whole group | By a name and mark that exist in this room only |
| What you know about joins | Who is in the group | Who invited whom, back to the Passport they used |
| A leaked link | Keeps working until someone notices | Revoked in one tap; the chain shows where it went |
| Problems | Reported to the platform, if at all | Reported to you with chosen evidence; severe cases go to platform safety |
| Who pays | Advertising, or nobody | You, or one labelled sponsor every member can hide |
You write the room, once
Purpose, rules with a version number, retention, and the Home tile setting. Members read all of it on the Passport before they accept.

Passports, not sign-ups
Issue a link with an expiry from 24 hours to 30 days and a use limit from 1 to 200. Label it. Revoke it.
Roles with limits
Organiser, moderator and member. Moderators act within the scope you give them and cannot touch the sponsor or export the chain.
What you see, and what you never see
The organiser gets exactly what governing a room needs, and nothing that belongs to the member.
You see Invitation chain
Who invited whom, back to the Passport they used.
You see Passport states
Uses left, expiry, and which links you revoked.
You see Room activity
Announcement reads, joins and leaves, in this room only.
You see Reports with chosen evidence
Only the messages the reporter ticked, with their reason.
You never see Phone numbers
WLP chat never collects them, so there is nothing to see.
You never see Email addresses
Not collected either. Members join through a link, not a sign-up.
You never see Names from other rooms
A member’s identity in your room is theirs alone. Other rooms get a different one.
You never see Private messages
There are no direct messages between members, so none exist to read.
Moderation, divided
You handle the ordinary
Spam, off-topic posts, a member who will not stop. Dismiss, warn or remove, with the evidence the reporter chose.

Platform safety handles the severe
Threats, illegal content, complaints about you, reports about a sponsor you approved, and every appeal. You can escalate; you cannot resolve them yourself.
Plans and test prices
Hypotheses for the pilot. Nothing is charged, and no card or store purchase exists in the current build.
Members
Free, always
Rooms, safety tools, deletion, text, voice notes and small files. Safety is never behind a payment.
Organiser Starter
Free
One room up to 100 members, basic roles, a demo or House tile on Home.
Community
£29 a month
Up to 500 members, admin roles, a 5 GB pooled media allowance, aggregate operational exports and sponsor controls. A paid room shows a House tile instead of sponsored creative.
Direct sponsorship
£100 to £300
Per room, per month. Sold and approved by hand. One labelled tile on Home, never behavioural.
How a room starts
Three steps in the app, then the link goes wherever your group already talks.
Write the Passport
Purpose, rules, retention, the tile. Ten minutes.

Share the link
Post it in the old WhatsApp group, an email newsletter or a printed notice. There is no directory to list your room in.
Watch, then revoke what leaks
Every join traces back to a Passport. A link posted where it should not be gets revoked in one tap.
